This already looks better than Episodes 1-3.

I wonder if they'll call it the T-Wing.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Saw that this morning - so happy!   JJ Makes me happy.   I'm tempted to have another kid so I can name him JJ.

It looks old, perhaps just a Z-95?  Stands to reason they'd update the design to make it look better in the movie.

That is definitely an X-wing! McQuarrie concept look and everything, love his art!

You don't need to strip your miniatures, painting over is fine. No, there should not be a fourth faction, three is the magic number for countering flavor lists and to break up faction distribution. Someone else has likely thought up and posted your amazing new build, so you don't need to stroke your ego when reposting it. The prequels sucked and so would a game based on it. YES, there should be a Custom Forum for terrain and repaints! Moving on...

I like it.  A lot.  It would look great on a stand getting pushed around the table...

I'm really liking the new version of the X-wing. Obviously different, but definitely an evolution of design.

I just like that it's a real, physical object instead of a little ball on a pole with some doofus going "ok now it's banking, now it's turning, ok now it's firing at you and you're dodging it."

The official Star Wars twitter account verifies that it's an X-wing, not a Z-95.

Here's a comparison:

jnhwI7z.jpg

Looks like a sleeker, faster version.

Maybe 3 attack, 3 defense, 2 hull, 2 shields with focus, target lock, and barrel roll (or evade)?

I'm kinda dissapointed.  Yes they are obviously referencing McQuire's work...but it still looks way too similar to the current design.  This movie is 30-35 years after ROTJ, it should be new ships, or if they want newer versions of an existing ship, don't make them so similar.

A casual fan would probably think they are the exact same ship.

Imperial: 2 tie fighters, 2 interceptors, tie phantom, tie advanced, firespray

Looks like a Z-95 with four guns instead of two, and they're so close to each other that they'll melt. I don't see a split in the presumably closed S-foil wings. This is weird.

You are drawing a ton of conclusions.

1) You are assuming this will be in the movie.   It is entirely possible this prop is just for flavor and may not even appear in the movie other than for a junk pile, or somewhere in the background - maybe even a museum.

2) You are assuming that 30-35 years is too long to use a ship.  The Millennium Falcon was in Episode 3, and is far older than the X-Wings... just for reference.

3) You conclude that there won't be newer ships. Even if this ship is featured in the film, who's to say it will be featured as a primary ship?   There certainly may be newer ships, and this could be the "old" ship that shows people are scraping together everything they can muster - similar to the Y-Wings in the Original Trilogy.

It still has S-foils.

Note that the S-foils no longer stack, but actually reside infront and behind one another. Very McQuarrie, I like it!

Exactly. It gives the fanboys something new to obsess over, while being so familiar that someone can glance at it and say, "oh yeah that's that one ship from Star Wars"

So exciting! The new X-wing does give the impression that its a faster, more maneuverable ship but the original trilogy version looks more balanced design-wise in comparison, although without seeing it at other angles I can't say for sure. One thing that's for sure, they're sticking close to McQuarrie's original design this time around.
