So I have been wondering, other than tournament play with popular ship builds such as a three X-Wings, or  six+ TIE Swarm, has anyone consistently ran a list of  the other ships?

How many of you have used an all B-Wings, or all TIE Bombers list say, and so forth?

If so how has it worked out for you?

:)

How would an all of any ship type list work out do you think?

STAR WARS is far more than three thirty year old films. FFG intends for X-Wing to thrive, thus it will be more also... PERIOD.

I'm not even sure all one ship type is the best way to run elite Rebels or a TIE swarm, honestly. The only list I can think of where it really works (in a competitive sense) is double Falcons, and I think even that will fall by the wayside when people have access to Falcon-Outrider lists.

Very interesting.

:)

I do wonder, what would an all Y-Wing list be able to do, or an all TIE Interceptor list. as examples.

Hmm.. I tend to do this quite often..

4 X wings (rooks) - works out great. Not game breaking good / definately a solid list though.either 4 rooks with shields or torps. I usually take one with r2d2. I've even ran 4 reds before as well. This has a few dedicated threads on it. I like both the torp list and shield version. People usually tend to go with the shields aparently as torps are not well liked even though it's a decent alpha strike. Other people on the forums have said they tried engine upgrades and even stealth devices (haven't tried either of those yet).

5 Y wings (golds) - An odd list. You'd be surprised how well this does, really a tank list (40 hp). Not the greatest amount of fire power and probably won't be winning any tournies but holds it's own. I choose 2 ion turrets for the remaining 10 points. If you scour the old battle report threads from some regionals you'll se it actually placed in the top 4 a few times. Do not recall the players name..

Never ran all b's or a's yet. I'm wanting to try this once aces comes out. I'll probably be short on retrofits though (i think only 2 come with each ace set).

6 A wings (protos / greens) - Still working out the details. 6 protos comes to 90 points.. leaves 10 for upgrades. I was thinking either 3 SD's or turning two into greens with outmaneuver or predator. Could even upgrade one to a named. Tycho is one point out of reach though.

I'm also guessing all z's might pop up soon. I only have 2 95's so that won't be happening from me. I have 5 x's (to many to fit in), 5 y wings and 4 a wings (going to pick up two ace packs putting me at 6 a wings).

I'm playing imperials (uncommon for me) this thursday and am going to run 6 black squadrons..

6 Tie Fighters (blacks) - running two with outmaneuver / 2 with opportunist and 2 with veteran instincts. Might swap around upgrades still like using predator instead of opportunist or whatnot.. i've even thought about using wingman with opportunist as well.. we'll see / should be a fun game regardless.

4 Gray Squadrons with Ion Turrets can't do much damage, but it CAN be a quite effective control list and cause some major headaches for your opponent.  Wouldn't compete with it, but definitely fun in social settings.

4 Royal Guards with PtL is the best list to come out of Imperial Aces.  You will move after 85% of all ships you face, and do a load of damage.  But, make a mistake and they go down like flies.

Also, triple Firespray lists are quite powerful and durable.  4 B-wings can be deadly.  4 Bombers including Jonus and assault missiles can be lethal to a swarm.  Also, 6 bombers or 4 lambdas give you lots of hull for your opponent to chew through.  Have seem all of these lists succeed.

I run 3 x Omicron, Adv Sensors, Engine Upgrade, Gunner.

or

3 x Bounty Hunter

both are successful lists.

Just to clarify, this requires Chardaan Refits (-2 points) from the upcoming Rebel Aces expansion on all 6 A-Wings in order to get the squad down to 90 points. Otherwise, 6 A-Wings is 102 points (17 points each).

yep. still not sure what i'm going to do about that. I believe only two refits comes with each ace pack. I might end up with only 4 and need two more.. sigh.

Cool replies my Wingers. I am thinking about larger squads for Epic. I currently have enough ships to run squads in sets of three or six. It is fun to think of putting six Y-Wings as escorts for a Huge ship.

While the body of your fleet is doing it's thing, you could have six Headhunters say,  zoom out from the main force to do some lance drives into oncoming attackers.

I am just thinking with my Wingers here, about what units work.

The Z swarm with Craken will be a thing. You can easily fit 6 with missiles on most. It can be deadly.

All A-wings will probably be decent once Rebel Aces comes out, but I don't think it will be overly competitve. Zs are much cheaper missile carriers and a group of them will outdamage a group of A-wings. However you can split the As in groups of three. One of those groups is going to get on a flank and mess your opponent up.

The only all of one type ship I wouldn't run is the HWK for Rebels and of course the Advanced for Imperials. You aren't going to win with those and it won't be fun.

Yes! I think the rusty bucket o bolts known as the rugged Y-Wings will shine in epic! Load em up with torps and let fly! they are just tanky enough to survive long enough to get their torps off without worrying that they will die loaded in a alpha strike. You might lose one or two but very unlikely that you'd lose any more than that. A tie / a wing / and 95' can all theoretically die from one torpedo (however unlikely). A y wing cannot / same for the bomber with their 8 hp / 6 hp respectively. sure two missiles might take one out but at least you can't get one shotted.

I'm waiting to buy more though. Have a feeling the next rebel ace pack will have y wings. Don't want to end up with more than 12. I've also been thinking of running 8 rooks with torps..comes to 200 points even...
