I ran Wes, Wedge and Jan in a build similar to the following last night against three Defenders and squeaked out a win with one hull remaining on the HWK! I've revamped the list some to make better use of the HWK, ie Recon Specialist and VI. I am also considering flip fllopping VI and Outmaneuver between Jan and Wedge. These three fly pretty nicely together for me and I'm liking a turret ship with two Xs!

Thoughts!

Wes Janson (31)\ PS 10
X-Wing (29), R4-D6 (1), Veteran Instincts (1)\

Jan Ors (36)\ PS 10
HWK-290 (25), Veteran Instincts (1), Blaster Turret (4), Recon Specialist (3), Moldy Crow (3)\

Wedge Antilles (33)\ PS 9
X-Wing (29), R2 Astromech (1), Outmaneuver (3)}

If you pull R4-D6 or VI (from Jan) and Outmaneuver you can squeeze Opportunist on Wedge.

The more I think about it, the more I don't like the blaster turret.  You have to spend a focus to use it and then it is a Range 2, 3 dice weapon.  Without some sort of re-roll or focus it is not so hot.  It is really a 7 point weapon because you almost have to take the Recon Specialist.

Sets: Core x 2, TIE x 1, X-Wing x 1, Millennium Falcon x 1, Slave-1 x 1, TIE Bomber x 1, HWK x 1, TIE-Int x 1, A-Wing x 1

Ships: Empire: TIE Fighters x 5, Firespray x 1, TIE Bomber x 1, TIE-Int x 1

           Rebel: X-Wing x 3, Millennium Falcon x 1, HWK x 1, A-Wing x 1

Fight terrorism, join the Empire!

I didn't have RS last night and it did ok. I stacked three Focus in the first three turns before making contact. I did go two turns without firing however after I ran out later in the fight. I like firepower wherever I can get it. Some like the ion capability, but I have never used it. I'll have to try it.

10 points is a huge amount to spend just on getting the Blaster Turret to work. I would almost rather have the Ion Turret for the same cost, since it gives such good control.

In this case you only have 3 ships so you need the firepower.

I just don't see the point in Outmaneuver on Wedge.  There are enough 1 agility ships in use that it often won't do anything for him.

Current Fleet:

Rebel: 4 A-Wings, 4 B-Wings, 2 HWK-290's, 3 YT-1300s, 4 X-Wings, 2 Y-Wing, 1 Tantive IV, 1 Rebel Transport, 4 E-Wing, 5 Z-95

Imperial:  3 Lambda Shuttles,  2 Firespray-31's, 3 Tie Advanced, 4 Tie Bombers, 6 Tie Fighters, 2 Tie Interceptors,   2 Imperials Aces, 4 TIE Phantom, 4 TIE Defender

On Pre-order:2 Z-95, 2 Rebel Aces, 2 YT-2400, 2 Decimator

It helps with range 3 attacks. seeing the look on your oponets face when range 3 cant help him is priceless :D

It doesn't work like that, XWing Nut.

Being at Range 3 allows a ship to roll an extra defence dice.  It does not increase a ship's agility value.

A ship with 1 agility will still get to roll 1 defence dice against Wedge with Outmaneuver at Range 3.

Maybe you will comfort in that you'll still be able to reduce a Agility 2 ship down to just 1 Green dice at Range 3. That's worth something, right?

Also, Outmaneuver on Wedge just paints on even bigger target on his head. I like predator instead. You wouldn't need the astromech to counter the stress, and you could use the point to upgrade Wes's droid to R3-A2.

R3-A2 is incredibly mean to phantoms because it nullifies the almost obligatory advanced cloaking device. And on a PS 10 ship, it is impossible for the phantom to shoot before he gets stressed. It's also just mean in general...

That Jan build will get even better post-Aces. Instead of rec spec take Kyle. You can bank focus every turn even if you bump in the process. It would only work if you went the ITC route though.
