Well the neb b is an imperial ship, the rebels got them when people defected to their side.

So you could release it with crew for both factions.

Exactly - heavily-armed Escort Frigate version for the Imperials, more lightly armed Medical Frigate version for the Rebels.

The same needs to be done with the Corellian Corvette, really - Tantive IV is an iconic rebelship, but the Corvette was available to and used by both factions.

When you're talking about the price range of the Corvette (and the Frigate, which would be at least double that), then you're unnecessarily limiting yourself if you don't make them available to both factions.

Back to the Frigate, it would be a beast to box up and ship, let alone field on the table (can you imagine the flying stand?) but I can see FFG getting around it by shipping it as a three piece model.  The main hull, the engine block and the connecting spar.  Simply design it so it can be disassembled into those three pieces for ease of shipping and storage.  Done!

Yup that is what I am thinking too, for the Vigil or any similar ship.

I'm a little skeptical that the Vigil can be pulled off. The triangular shape works against it. It is so wide at the back that two bases probably won't be able to support it. Adding another base in a triangular formation will make it's turning radius so wide, that at best it could only circle the board in one direction. Unless the playing field size is increased, to 4' on the shortest edge. And, 4' is really starting to stretch playability. You'd have to cross over to your opponents side of the table to do maneuvers near that edge of the board.

The Nebulon B suffers a similar problem, in that the bases would have to be further apart to support it due to its geometry. It would also be a very tall model, which I fear would be easily tipped over. I don't think we'll see this one either.

The Bulk Freighter, Gozanti Tie Carrier and the DP20 gunboat are all more practical choices. But none of them are easily identified as Star Wars, let alone the Imperial side. Wave five and the Hawk seem to indicate that FFG is willing to go with less recognizable ships when they fit a need. So my guess is still with some of these ships over the first two, even though the Vigil and Nebulon seem to be more popular picks by the fan base.

My prediction is that the escort for the Gozanti will be the Tie Advanced.

1. It needs the upgrade/pilots to make it a more viable ship.

2. The escort needs to be a hyperdrive ship to function independently from the cruiser.

3. Tie fighters already have a ton of pilots/abilities

4. Interceptors already got their upgrades pack.

5. Phantom and defenders are too new to add and don't fit the escort role.

Well, the base set come with one X-Wing and 2 Tie Fighter. Since the transport come with an X-Wing and the Gozanti is shown with 2 Tie, you just add 1+1. ;P

There's already so many TIE pilots, I don't even know what pilots/abilities they could possibly add.
Maybe a tie advanced. New upgrades /pilots

Probably this, with an x2 title that addresses the Advanced's shortcomings.

For my part, that would be alright. But I don't think it would be fair for the players not interested in Epic to put the 'fix' for the Tie Advanced with a Huge ship that they would not get to use. Better to make it in a Ace box like they did with the A-Wing. Since Tie Fighter doesn't need fix and Gozanti Cruiser was carrying Tie Fighters, it's a perfect match.

I can definitely see why they would put a tie fighter with an imperial transport but I have a hard time thinking of what they could add with 3-4 unique new pilots. Maybe a new howlrunner esque ship that focuses on defense. Maybe allow range 1 ships to re roll a green die or to take stress to give others an extra green.

Not sure on an Imperial transport but for a CR90 equivalent for the Imperials do you think the CR92A is to similar to use? I know it's basically only from the games but it looks marginally different. Just throwing out an idea.

So we love the new Large Ships for Wave Five, and we have seen what FFG has done for the Alliance Huge Ships. I am calling the Imperial response, for fun, and because I think this is going to happen.

We are likely going to get an Imperial Gozanti Cruiser for the GR-75 Transport equivalent.

10231954603_4ffb4ac787_o.jpg

And an Imperial Vigil Corvette for the Tantive IV equivalent.

vigil.jpg

These ships are doable in the same way that FFG did the Alliance Huge ships.

What do you all think?

:)

Be careful with those brazen predictions. You have a pretty high bar to live up to.

i was thinking maybe a lancer class frigate to combat the cr90

Yeah it is cool!

LancerFrigate_07.jpg

But for some reason I am feeling it will be the Gonzies...

I'm calling the Action Transport series.  It has been notarized.

The vigil or better yet, the lancer would be great fun!

I really don't know why anyone thinks that the Vigil is at all likely. It's a fan-made ship that happened to appear in the background of one picture in one book, and hasn't been used anywhere else. The fact that some random guy made a really nice model of it doesn't make it an important ship in the official universe.

We're getting the Outrider after many other EU vehicles that are less directly linked to the most pure level of canon.

It doesn't seem to me as though FFG is following any level of "officialness" when selecting which ships to make.

VT-49 didn't have much going for it either. That being said, I think Tartan Patrol Cruiser's more likely than Vigil.

I'll raise your guess by saying that the Gozanti will come with 2 Tie Fighter in the blueish grey from Empire Strike Back, like the bomber and Interceptor. It will be sold at the same price as the transport, since it is smaller but come with 2 ship.

Agree with this but I'd expect Tie Advanced and/or Bomber.

Rebel Fleet: 3x X-wing, 1x A-wing 1x Y-wing 1x YT-1300.

On Order: 1x  HWK, 1x A-wing, 3x B-wing, 2x Tie Interceptor.

Imperial Fleet: 4x Tie Fighter, 2x Tie Adv, 1x Lambda Shuttle.

Oh yes.  You know it.

There's no way that's a CR90 "equivalent" man, it would have 12 hardpoint upgrade slots. I could see them doing a three card ship (fore/middle/aft) 4 hardpoints each.

Well, technically the Imperial CR-90 equivalent would be... a CR-90.

But you know what Imperial doctrine has tosay on the matter:  go big or go home.
