Hey folks, I'm sure a bunch of these posts get made, but I had a fairly specific question. I was looking at the Balance of the Force expansion and debating if I needed to nab it.

I don't know the game well enough to know if the objective sets in it are efficient enough to play in duels. I don't have a lot of players around, so the multiplayer stuff will probably not be used much.

I also assume that a second coreset is a good plan, as it usually is in the LCGs.

2nd core set is a must. Balance has some useful sets for 1 v 1 but it isn't a priority like edge of darkness

Some of the balance sets are good even in 1 v1 but a second core is much more a priority.

A second core is a big must.  Enjoy!

Just get 2 cores, 2 Edge of Darkness, and 1 of everything else. You'll have every card in the game and it won't cost you an arm and a leg.

Edit: Before you buy all of this stuff, make sure that people are even playing in your city. If you've got a group of friends that are big into card games already, cool. If you don't, you might find yourself with a lot of Star Wars cards sitting in a box with no one to play with. The player base varies from city to city, so just beware.

Yeh, I've put this on hold. Haven't found a group in the Seattle area yet. Boo. :(

It is possible to be the group starter, but it probably doesn't make sense to buy everything to do that.  Start with a core set (maybe 2) and use that to introduce some friends to the game (also gives you the chance to find out if you really enjoy it before getting fully invested).

Yeh, I have a core set currently. I quite like the game play, it reminds me somewhat of the parts of L5R I enjoyed, for those familiar with it. My primary problem with being the group starter is time. I have a terrible schedule for weekdays. I'll keep at it though!

I love L5R too, Damoel.  Been big into netrunner in recent weeks with a big playgroup for that, but got the core set of SW last night to try it. I'm not in the Seattle area, but do go up for the sci-fi con Rustycon each year. That is in january so it's pretty far but maybe we can get something going with the gaming programming there at least to demo the game for people in the area?  They've got Timothy Zahn as a guest so should be a good group friendly to the idea!
