What is your favourite build to use for imperials and rebels?

I am fairly new to the game and looking to try some builds that have a decent track record, to off set my new-ness.

I don't have any of the big ships, just the small ones.

I appoligize if this is posted (I went back 6-7 pages and didn't see one).

Rebels: X-Wing x 4, Y-Wing x 2, B-Wing x 2, A-Wing x 1, E-Wing x 2, Z-95 x 6,  YT-1300 x 1

Imperials: Tie Fighter x 8, Tie Advance x 1, Tie Interceptor x 3 , Tie Bomber, x 1, Tie Phantom x 2

Tie Defender x 2, Firespray-31 x 1

Chewie's Knives

Chewie - Push the Limit, Millennium Falcon

2x Dagger Squad - Adv Sensors.

Note: This squad build requires large ships as Adv Sensors only comes in the Shuttle atm. You could replace it with Fire Control System for the same points. The B-Wings won't be quite as agile and nimble, but they'll pack more of a punch.

Chewie+DTF+Falcon

Biggs

Kyle+Blaster+Crow+Recon

Is it the best list in the world?  Maybe not, but it's a blast to play!

My "go-to" build as of late has been:

Soontir+PtL+TC

Royal+PtL+Hull+TC

BH+Gunner

My go to list when I first started playing was:

Garven

Dutch - ion turrett

Red Squad

Red Squad

You can use the two red squadrons to cause collisions or block because Garven and Dutch action share with them. The build is extremely forgiving in that respect and the formation doesn't have to be super tight given that the abilities are range 1-2.

The new list I'm excited to try is:

Chewbacca- Push the limit, Gunner, C3P0, MF title

Red Squad

Red Squad

Rebels: 6 X-wings 4 Y-wings 1 A-wing 2 B-wings 1 Falcon 1 HWK 1 GR75 Transport 1 E-wing 3 Z95's

Imperials: 8 Tie Fighters 2 Tie Advanced 3 Tie Interceptors 2 Firesprays 2 Lambda Shuttles 1 Tie Bomber 1 Tie Phantom 1 Tie Defender

Not sure I have a go to list as I rarely play the same thing twice, there is so many options in this game that it's hard to try them all. But currently, that would probably look like this:

Rebels:

Hobbie+R3-A2

Dutch Vander+Ion turret+R2 unit

Blue Squadron Pilot

Blue Squadron Pilot

Imperials:

Saber Squadron Pilot+Push the Limit

Saber Squadron Pilot+Push the Limit

Obsidian Squadron Pilot

Obsidian Squadron Pilot

Obsidian Squadron Pilot

Obsidian Squadron Pilot

With all the new ships and upgrades coming, I'm sure it will change a lot.

I'm a french native player so sometimes, some expressions or meanings might be lost in translation. I mean no disrespect.

I don't have one. I make a new squad every time and have never flown the same squad twice.

Turr + Veteran Instincts
Howlrunner + Swarm Tactics
Alpha TIEint
Alpha TIEint
Alpha TIEint

~~~~~~~~~~~
Jan Ors + ion turret
Green Awing + PTL + Assault Missile
Rookie Xwing
Rookie Xwing
These 2 builds are beginning to become my "default" lists when fighting someone new or when I have nothing in particular that I want to fly. Normally, I'd be flying something completely different every single day, but if there is an impromptu tournament or challenge, I'd most likely be flying either of these 2 lists.
My previous go-to list was a 4 small ship elite Imperials (Vader Soontir 2 TIEs), but it doesn't have the sort of impact I want nowadays, especially after Imperial Aces got released
I'm at fairly early stages yet, but I really liked the last list I used so I'd probably be using it until I figure out its naff or get bored.
Wedge, swarm tactics, r5 target lock droid
Dutch, r2 droid
Garven
prototype pilot.
With almost permanent TL & Focus Wedge and Garven kick out a lot of damage at PS 9. Dutch can soak up the damage and the a wing zooms about and either distracts the opponent and gets them to split fire, or can last to the end game and kick out some close range damage with TL & Focus combo of its own.
Cheerio,
Ben
I've been trying out a quad x-wing list ever since the transport came out:
Garven
Rookie
Hobbie, R3-A2
Tarn Mison, R5-P9
The idea being that Garven supports Hobbie and Tarn as appropriate, either giving Hobbie focus for defense (since he will be TLing each turn), or giving it to Tarn to regenerate shields.  I try to keep Tarn out of the main line of fire, preserving him until the endgame, where he works great as a closer.
For Rebels:
Wedge + Swarm
Roark + Blaster + Recon
Blue Squad
Rookie
Wave 4 Alternate I've tried a couple times:
Wedge
Blount + VI + Assault
Roark + Blaster + Recon
Blue Squad
For Imperials:
Kath + HLC + Seismic + Predator (can be substituted for PTL until Wave 4 come out, but it's not as good IMO)
Bounty Hunter + Gunner
Academy
For a while I played
Wedge
Biggs
Gold Sq. Pilot + Ion Cannon Turret
Gold Sq. Pilot + Ion Cannon Turret
Nice control, and Biggs helps Wedge stay alive for decent damage output.
My favorite right now is:
Chewie
Millennium Falcon
Gunner
PtL
Engine Upgrades
Green Squad w/ PtL x2
I call it, 'Punch it'.
The Falcon kites them as the Greens dart in and out of combat. A lot of fun to fly and not too difficult.
Rebel 2 Z-95s, 3 A-Wings, 3 B-Wings, 5 X-Wings, 2 Y-Wings, 2 HWK-290s, 2 YT-1300s, 1 GR-75 Medium Transports, 1 Corellian Corvette, 2 E-wings
Empire: 2 TIE Advanced, 4 TIE Bombers, 8 TIE Fighters, 7 TIE Interceptors, 2 Firespray-31s, 2 Lambda Shuttles, 2 Tie Phantoms, 2 Tie Defenders
