Not one person has put Mandolorian?

Curious. I was expecting one person to be promptly shoutwd down for suggesting them.

I would wager they show up in the bounty hunter supplement.

Aren't Mandalorians more a culture than a species? Given that humans are deliberately made to be mechanically diverse they kind of already exist.

I'm thinking it would sell really well if mandolorians were put in a sector book like Suns of fortune. Call it Blood and honour or something and include Mando human subtype and any other 'warrior' races like gamorrean and something else like sakiyan, include the mando ships and gear seen in The Clone Wars episodes and you have an complete book if youbmake it along the same lines as Suns of fortune.

But if Mandalorians are a culture not a species, wouldn't it make more sense to have a specialisation for them?

No. For two reasons:

One when you have a sci-fi or space opera setting, the line between species and culture becomes blurred. To go back to the pld serials and star trek the alien species were allegories of different cultures. When you translate this to the rpg, mechanically a new culture is the same as a new species. Think of every planet as its own country, each with its own culture. Planets like Coruscant would be the melting pot that is, say North America with much diversity, where Corellia, Alderaan, Mandalore, etc would be like the countries that have one dominant culture - to use an outsiders view, an average north american looking at Spain, France and Italy.

Two, there is already the precedent made with correllians that reinforces culture is the same as species.

As a side note, this is one issue many have with sci-fi, that am entire species only has one culture. One could argue that space travel could let these diverse cultures spread out and segregate themselves in essence, becoming their own species - which in star wars, translates to the near-human nomenclature.

It's a bit iffy though.  Not all Mandalorians are born on Mandalore - they go there and assimilate themselves into the culture, right?  Sounds like something that could happen in-game, so it'd be odd to have it as a trait that can only be gained at creation.

As to the immigrating, depends on the new canon. Clone Wars seems to show otherwise.

In terms of the rpg, the stats like corellian humans, would represent someone who is not only born and raised in a culture, but who also espouses the cultural view.

If we go with the canon that mandalorians are a defined culture, like Corellians, then an species entry can work. If anything, if like corellians, mandalorians will just have ranged light or heavy, maybe brawl as career skills and they can raise these to three at character creation. The rest is fluff.

I would love to see Nautolan, Togruta & Jawa. While I think that they might reserve Togruta and Nautolan for AoR or F&D, Jawas fit best in the EotE part of the SW lore. I think that they would fit best in the Technician supplement book.

Ithorians and their four throats are in age of rebellion.

I wonder if an ithorian named lovelace is inapropriate?

I only have the CRB, but it already has my favorite: Bothans.  They're just really cool, to me.  They look kind of like K-9's, and to me, that just screams great side-kick material to a Han Solo sort of persona.

Mel Brooks is way ahead of you on that one:
