Well, either Gandalf helps Elrond/Vilya, or it's the other way around. Could be some ready effect, additional resources or a boost of Gandalf's stats, as they are obviolsy pretty much low, gieven the hints so far, perhaps even at zero.

I sure hope that he's not built like Galdriel. Her mechanic is interesting and innovative and it fits her, but it wouldn't fit The Grey Pilgrim.

Scrying would fit nicely with Gandalf's character. Perhaps his Vilya does the scrying?

His Vilya is Narya but he may keep it secret, keep it safe.

Oh I am not convinced of that idea. Was not Gandalf anything but secrecy in the books?
