As i've mentioned elsewhere, a falcon I bought was warped and badly painted so FF kindly sent me a new one.

Given I had a spare (warped) falcon I thought it was a great opportunity to give modding a go.

I'm stopping for the day now but I've laid out some pieces so you get the general idea of what i'm going for.

I'm going to need to buy plasticard now, can anyone tell me what they used to rebuild the missing sections and add details?

I've gotten a bit carried away now...

Would really appreciate it if anyone could point me to the plasticard to use? Also so a medic that can reattach the end of my right index finger,

The American company Evergreen produces a large range of sizes of strip plastic card which are very useful for adding details.

I'm in the UK so their sheet plastic card is rather expensive, so I use other makes bought from local modelshops or EMA or Slater's Plasticard in the UK. The thicknesses I use are 10, 20 40, 60 and 80 thou(0.25, 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2mm in metric). It is best to use liquid polystyrene cement to stick plastic card to itself, superglue is needed to stick to the plastic used by FFG.

Evergreen is awesome stuff to work with. .5 mm stuff should be gold for this job.

Cool, thanks i've ordered some. And is the paneling done by gluing smaller squares on to a base piece or etched somehow?

Get a scribing tool for big panels, but then also glue on very tiny rectangles for raised details.

Also, some Green Stuff two part putty and a pot of brush on green stuff, good for knocking out seams and filling joints.

I think I've bitten off more than I can chew with this project, I'm lucky the Falcon was spare because I think i've ruined it...

I disagree.  This is one of the more interesting YT conversions I've seen in a while.  I like the extra engine boosters, in particular.

Thanks but my point was that i've just caked it in green stuff with no real direction. I don't really know how to do the engraved details and well, it all just looks a bit poor.

Besides the cockpit looking slightly angled up, I think it looks great. I REALLY like the engines, dish and new direction of the cockpit. This thing is really close! Keep it up.

So I smoothed out all the filler and took an engraving tool to it to make some panel details.

The engraver is unfortunately a bit bigger than the channels between the normal panels but hopefully will look OK when painted:
