Final, Final List Thoughts?!

Argh...

 

So I still haven't settled on what to do with my life. Since that's too much to solve, I figure I would at least try to nail down my list, for the umpteenth and a half time...

 

Wedge

Garven

Y-wing + Blaster Turret x 2 

 

 

The thought being to rub Garven and the Ys together, and flank Wedge out and force my opponent to decide where they want to concentrate their efforts. Is it terrible? 


5 X, 5 B, 3 A, 2 Y, 1 Hwk, 2 Es, 3 Zs, 1 YT 1300, 1 YT 2400, Rebel Aces

6 TIE, 2 TIE B. 2 Ints, 1 Adv, 1 Defender, 2 Phantoms, 1 Shuttle, 1 Firespray, Imp Aces

It's not terrible, but those 22 point Y-WIngs + Blasters would probably be better as B-Wings, or as Rookies with Astromechs...

Blaster turrets don't work well with Y-wings. (I really wish that wasn't the case as I like flying Y-squads). You would be better with ions to set up the two X's or something else.

 

Current meta builds are:

 

XXBB

 

BBYY (all with ions)

 

BBBAA

 

XXYY 

 

XXBYY (no turrets)

 

XBYA

I have always had fun with an XXYYions squad.

 

I also like XXXYion and use the Y in wide flanking arcs the way you were planning on running Wedge.  Consistant ioning damage from the side/back or the XXX punch to the face, you decide?

Fixed that for you.

I don't mind the Wedge/Garven combo, but I think the list would be better served by Rebel Operatives with Ion Cannon Turrets (or Rookies or Blues etc.)

Wedge will be a fire magnet, he will go down pretty fast. (that is what I would do)
Why not invest in a cheaper x wing/other ship and use the left over points for some upgrades or other named character ships?

Luke will make R2-D2 sing.

R2 falls quickly to focus-fire, and Luke is essentially focus-fire proof.

With the remaining 5 points, consider the following;

  1. Draw Their Fire on Luke
  2. Expert Handling on Luke
    Swarm Tactics on Luke 
  3. An R2/R5 Astromech on each of the Rookies
    Push the Limit on Luke
  4. Promote one of the Rookies to Biggs Darklighter
    Shield Upgrade on Luke
  5. Promote one of the Rookies to Garven Dreis.

I'll attest that the math from my Matlab scripts generally agrees with this. Ion turret damage can actually be higher than Blaster damage because you lose your focus. On the average, across a wide variety of shot types, Ion Turret actually does more damage. And the Ion effect is really good to boot.

Also, if you lose your ability to take a Focus Action, no (or seriously reduced) shooting for you that turn.
